NASA finally admits what everyone already knows: SLS is unaffordable

Ars Technica

“….Government IS the problem.” USA President Ronald Reagan (1981)

Well, no.

Government is and will forever be the enabler for large endeavors and the industrial sector of new national initiatives and economies. The relationship between BIG government and space and satellites has been necessary, productive and profitable.

But is it time to do what Capitalism and Innovation demand? Hand-off. Find the path toward a robust commercial sector which will now flourish and be invested in with confidence?

Or is it too soon?

The recent headlines from the Artemis program told us that a dialogue needs to happen. So does the signs of cooling of investments in the industry. Are we on the steps of the Gartner Hype Cycle?  A bumpy transition? Or an addiction to government money?

Join the New York Space Business Roundtable on November 15 for real conversation about the handoff between government and commercial.  Look inside the head of investors and companies when we ask, “Where are we?” and “Where do we go?” in the Cislunar ecosystem.

Panelists:

  • Beverly Belvisi, CEO, Interstellar Labs
  • Jeff Manber, President International and Space Stations, Voyager Space
  • Rick Tumlinson, Chairman, Space Fund
  • Lou Zacharilla, Director of Innovation, SSPI (Moderator)

Regular features of the Roundtable include:

TheSignificant Digits Report by SpaceNews Magazine’s journalists

The New York Minute, our monthly reaction with New York Space Alliance Founder Joe Fargnoli.

The SSPI kick-off video. Always a surprise waiting.
